This was really interesting, both in setting and tone, but I'm not sure I buy into the author's contention that it's something more or different from a novel. I do get how labeling something historical fiction lacks a certain cachet, and calling it economic fiction, while even more accurate isn't exactly going to get the books flying off the shelves.
